Windows 11 Update Strikes Again: Reboot Loops and Blue Screens Galore

Who has two thumbs and an RMM platform that prevented Microsoft's latest preview update from taking down half of his customers? This guy!! Microsoft's latest update KB5043145 , released on September 26, 2024 has been treating some people a little well needed r and r. That's rest and relaxation... or more specifically reboot and reboot. Rather than the smooth upgrade experience we generally see with Windows Updates this time some users are being greeted with endless reboot loops or facing the blue screen of death (BSOD).

The Update That Went South

The KB5043145 update was supposed to be a helpful one, filled with tweaks and improvements to make your Windows 11 experience even better. Among the fixes were reliability updates for Microsoft Edge (for the six of you... and Majiri that use Edge), stability improvements for Task Manager, and some under-the-hood optimizations to pave the way for future feature releases. Saddly this hasn't come to pass with many users have reporting that their machines seem a little more rebooty than they're used to.

What Went Wrong?

The exact reason behind these crashes is still being investigated and I'm sure Microsoft will tell us all exactly what they did wrong and promise never to do it again.

While these issues don't seem to be hitting every single Windows 11 user, there’s enough noise online to suggest that it’s not an isolated problem. The tech community has been quick to sound the alarm, filling forums with reports of their update-induced woes.

256 Solutions Response

Customers in our Remote Monitoring and Maintenance Platform have their updates pushed through our platform. As this was an optional update (anda preview one at that) it is not part of our standard update process. The update itself has actually been blocked in our platform preventing it from being installed at all by downstream devices even if a user specifically requests it.

Businesses in Hamilton and Burlington already struggling with this should contact 256 Solutions today so that we can help modernize and improve your IT environment. Protecting you from threats as well as ensuring the right updates are pushed at the right time so that you can focus on what you do best. Serving yoru customers.
